Edison’s School Improvement Programme Wins ISO 9001 Approval
Wednesday, 10th December, 2008
Colchester, UK. September 17th, 2007 - In the first award of its kind for an educational support programme, Edison Schools has received ISO 9001 approval for its school improvement partnership programme based on the company's Design for School Improvement. The Design, an all-embracing package of professional training, curriculum content, school management techniques, information technology, consultancy and support, is used in school improvement partnerships with over 50 schools in the UK to raise achievement and transform school culture.
"ISO 9001 approval is significant endorsement for our approach because it emphasises the systematic nature and verifiable quality of the Design for School Improvement," said Mark Logan, Managing Director of Edison Schools UK. "The most sustainable school improvement comes not by relying on one or two exceptional individuals, but by addressing the whole school as an entity to raise its effectiveness, so that all the staff have a framework in which to achieve their potential. By tackling every aspect of a school's performance in a coherent, systematic and sustained way, The Design for School Improvement helps schools function more effectively as a whole, so that both staff and pupils benefit from a lasting improvement in the quality of their educational community."
Developed out of an unprecedented international programme of educational research, Edison's Design for School Improvement is equally effective in primary or secondary education and is implemented in the UK primarily through partnerships with schools, lasting three years or more. The programme addresses all the inter-related factors that contribute to a school's achievement, including: leadership and organisation; ethos and behaviour; teaching and learning; curriculum and learning pathways; community and extended schools; professional development; ICT and information management.
