'An excellent school we are lucky to have': Congratulations to Lyons Hall

Friday, 2nd October, 2009

Lyons Hall's latest Ofsted report is another marker in the continuing success story for the school. With an Outstanding rating overall, and Grade 1 in every category, Lyons Hall is going from strength to strength. Inspectors praised the culture of high expectation and the outstanding quality of education, noting that pupils of all levels of attainment 'achieve exceptionally well due to outstanding teaching and learning.' The report quoted approving parental views of 'an excellent school we are lucky to have.'

Pupils also develop well into mature and balanced young people, the report says, aided by the school's 'excellent procedures ... to help pupils think things through and reflect on their experiences in a mature and positive manner.' Pupils also 'know a great deal about their own preferred learning styles', and pupils' views 'make a significant contribution to the drive to constantly develop teaching and learning styles.'

Inspectors also commended the 'very strong sense of teamwork, where all strive to ensure the very best for all pupils', and the outstanding leadership and management that 'has ensured that teachers, teaching assistants and administrative staff all have the skills they need to perform to a high level of competence.'

'Lyons Hall is a very, very uplifting example for everyone who works in education,' said Paul Lincoln, Managing Director of EdisonLearning. 'Since we started our relationship with Andrew Smith and his team in 2003, there's been such rapid progress and wholehearted commitment at the school, which has now left those early days of crisis far behind. An 'Outstanding' rating across the board from Ofsted is no surprise at all to anyone who knows Lyons Hall, because the sense of joy in learning there is overwhelming. We are so pleased for everyone who's worked to make it the wonderful school it is, and offer them our warmest congratulations.'
