A Curriculum for World Class Primary Schools
Friday, 29th January, 2010
The DCSF has recently announced the introduction of the World Class Primary Programme, a new model of school improvement, focused on providing the very best support to help all primary schools move forward and improve standards.
At the heart of vision lies the new primary curriculum, to be in place by September 2011. The development of the new curriculum is seen as a great opportunity for schools to come together, to plan, to think about the quality of teaching and learning, and to share expertise. Reflecting the findings of the Rose Review, the World Class Primary Programme provides a great opportunity for every primary school to embrace change, and ensure that their curriculum is truly fit to meet the needs of young learners in the modern world. But, given all of the other pressures on time and resources, will schools be able to meet the challenge?
Over the past six years, EdisonLearning has been working with a group of highly innovative schools to develop a new curriculum framework that truly meets the demands of the Rose Review, bringing creater creativity to the classroom, balancing the learning of national curriculum content with the development of life and learning skills, and transforming the work of classroom teachers. The framework is not a fixed blueprint, but an adaptable starting point from which any school may build its own personalised approach.
Ofsted have now recognised the quality of the framework in a large number of schools, and you can find out more by downloading our Primary Curriculum brochure. Click here>>
You can also apply to attend one of our free Primary Curriculum workshops which are taking place all over the country this spring. For more information, please contact Deborah King on 01206 767980
