Kevin Crossley,
Achievement Adviser
Kevin Crossley has worked in education for 18 years, mainly
in Essex, Suffolk and Havering secondary schools as a teacher
and senior manager. Following Headship of a Suffolk Upper
School he joined Essex Advisory and Inspection Service as
a Senior Adviser before moving to Edison UK. He is an OFSTED
team inspector and has wide experience of working with schools
on leadership and management issues including specialist school
status, team building and teaching and learning.
Allan Sigston,
Achievement Adviser
Allan trained and practiced as a teacher and educational psychologist
working in both London and county local authorities. For 10
years he was both a practising educational psychologist and
as a university training tutor. He holds a doctorate in Educational
Psychology and is an Honorary Research Fellow at University
College London. Before joining Edison Allan was a manager
of SEN and social inclusion services, and managed the highest-performing
county SEN Service.
Sue Sigston, Achievement
Adviser
Sue spent 7 years as a successful head teacher in a Harlow
primary school that placed high value on working with parents
and social inclusion. She has worked on a variety of initiatives
including being selected to be involved in "Heads You
Win", a joint project investigating effective school
leadership led by Cambridge University and Essex County Council,
the recruitment of overseas teachers and coordinating locality-based
projects.
Jan Lawler,
Achievement Adviser
During her 27 years in education Jan’s experience encompasses
teaching in all phases of 5-16 schooling, including a year
working in a New Zealand primary school. She held a variety of
senior management posts in primary schools before joining
Essex LEA as part of the Schools Causing Concern team. Here
she provided leadership in schools in all Ofsted categories as
Headteacher or Senior Manager, and provided consultancy on
curriculum issues to others. Her particular areas of expertise
include curriculum design and behaviour management.
John McAleavy,
Achievement Adviser
John joined Edison in May 2004 from the Academies Division at
the DFES where he worked as an adviser to opened Academies
and, projects in planning. Previously he was a secondary
adviser in Waltham Forest after leaving head ship at the
Harwich school in 2001. Harwich was an 11-18 language college
with 1200 students which was a member of an EAZ and won a
number of DFES achievement awards. Before that he was a head
of an 11-16 comprehensive in Colchester after teaching in
Essex and Colchester. John is a qualified OFSTED team
inspector, he has a lot of experince of working with schools
in challenging circumstances and, has a particular interest in
leadership and strategic decision making.
Jane Dow,
Achievement Adviser
Jane joined Edison in December 2004. A highly skilled
school improvement professional, her career spans teaching,
LEA, EAZ and inspection work. She has wide experience and
expertise in supporting teacher development at all levels.
As an LEA school improvement and Link Adviser, Jane has worked
closely with leadership groups in a broad range of schools and
has led initiatives in curriculum development, extended
schools and neighbourhood renewal, gifted and talented
provision and school self evaluation. She developed CPD
training, coaching support and competency frameworks in an
Education Action Zone and as manager of a highly successful
secondary PGCE SCITT programme, she sat on TTA groups involved
in developing national assessment standards for initial
teacher training. An accredited Ofsted inspector, Jane has
also been an inspector for teacher education and training.
Peter Terry,
Achievement Adviser
Peter began his
teaching career in Waltham Forest, ultimately becoming Head
Teacher in two large and challenging primary schools. He then
worked as an advisor for the Borough, specialising in the
recruitment of primary teachers at all levels. Peter resumed
headship in Essex in 1982, leading two successful primaries,
both in Chelmsford. He has had significant experience of
schools working in partnership and has played a county-wide
role in moving forward its approach to the "extended schools"
initiative.
Lyn Riley, Achievement Adviser
Lyn is a former primary headteacher and local authority
adviser. She has been an OFSTED inspector since 1997 and has
up-to-date experience of inspecting schools against the Every
Child Matters framework. Lyn has been the Project Director of
a successful Education Action Zone in East London where she
led innovative projects using information technology and
emotional intelligence to improve teaching and learning in
classrooms. She has also run her own personal and
professional development business. Lyn is a trained life coach
with a specialism in the successful management of change.
George Paparestis-Stacey,
Achievement Adviser
Originally a primary teacher and having taught in London,
Essex and abroad, George has considerable experience of
teaching and team leading in challenging environments and in
training, advising and coaching in the primary, secondary and
special school sectors. Formerly of Essex LEA Behaviour
Support Service, George has led and developed strategy,
implementation and resource initiatives for SEN and Behaviour
Management at school leadership level and through school
communities.
