EDISON SCHOOLS APPOINTS MARK LOGAN
Managing Director Joins from Serco plc
Colchester, UK: November 2nd, 2004 Edison
Schools UK has announced the appointment of Mark Logan to
the position of Managing Director. Mark joins Edison from
Serco Group plc., where he was the Director of Serco Learning.
Edison Schools UK now has partnerships with
20 schools in Britain and is fast growing into a very significant
provider of school services to the state sector. Mark Logan's
appointment marks an important phase in Edison's growth and
development in the UK education scene.
'Edison's holistic and ongoing approach to educational
services is something quite new and exciting,' said Mark Logan.
'It's already making a real contribution to improving the
quality and standard of the education in our partner schools.
The potential benefit to a wide range of schools is enormous.
I'm very excited about joining the company and helping to
drive forward this very promising development in British education.'
'In the short time since Edison Schools began
to work with educators in Britain, we've achieved a great
deal and positioned ourselves to offer our unique programme
of development measures right across the country,' said Edison's
Education Director Paul Lincoln. 'Demand for what Edison can
provide is very high indeed, and Mark's appointment adds to
our great wealth of experience and gives us a strong platform
to manage the growth we need in order to satisfy demand.'
Edison Schools UK works with partner schools
through a process of consultancy, coaching and innovation,
to provide a complete package of services and technologies
to assist with raising achievement. Through its research-based
school design, diagnostic assessment systems, continuous professional
development, and integrated use of technology, Edison provides
an all-encompassing school improvement programme designed
to support every aspect of a school's operation in pursuit
of a more effective and satisfying learning experience. Edison
advisers provide training and professional development to
the school teaching staff with continuous support and consultancy
throughout the programme.
Partnership with Edison is recognised by headteachers
and staff as an energising and highly effective way to bring
about whole-school improvement and deliver positive changes
in student attitudes and achievement. In May 2004, the OFSTED
inspection report for Edison partner Colbayns High School
remarked that 'the recently introduced Edison Project provides
an effective framework for the many other initiatives with
which the school is involved and has had a positive impact
on students' behaviour.'
