Primary, Secondary & Special Schools
PLiP (Personalised Learnng in Practice)
Preparing for effective personalisation in the classroom.
PLiP is a professional development programme that builds a schools ability to engage its students in meaningful discussion about learning. It is appropriate for primary and secondary schools, and is particularly effective as a collaborative project across a network of schools.
PliP has three distinctive elements:
- Research and Consultation: What do you know about how your students learn?
- Developing best practice: What can teachers do differently to help every student to be a more effective learner?
- Improving systems and organisation: What organisational factors in your school prevent all learners from achieving to their potential?
These elements are explored over a period of around one academic year, with the support of expert advisers and online tools, working initially with a small team of teachers and students, and then engaging the whole school in solution-finding activities.
PliP can be a challenging venture. It has the potential to ask potentially difficult questions about how a school is organised to meet the needs of all it learners, but it also offers the opportunity to open the door to new levels of achievement for all.
"It moved from being about toilets, pizzas and lockers to being about the quality of classroom provision. -Chris Holmwood, Shenley Brook End School"
